Criswell Cemetery Group Has Annual Homecoming Event
The nineteenth annual Criswell Cemetery Memorial
Homecoming was held Sunday, June 14, at the Criswell Community Center.
There was a large crowd in attendance with visitors from all over the state.
The Community Center grounds and the cemetery were
clean and freshly mowed. The cemetery was profuse with both fresh and
artificial flowers. Mrs. Alta Caddell furnished several floral
arrangements for the auditorium.
Activities for the day began at 10:30 a.m. with Thomas
Criswell as master of ceremonies and song leader. Mrs. Aubrey Stone was
pianist and Mrs. George Stone was program chairman.
The program began with the congregation singing, “Ring
The Bells of Heaven” and “Sunlight”. Prayer was given by Thomas Criswell
and the welcome by the president of the cemetery association, Robert
Grisham. Welcome address was presented by Sharon Potts and Mrs. Jane
Barron of Caldwell sang two special songs.
The mortuary list was read by Mrs. Jewel Rucker of Dallas,
which included the names of Mrs. Ida Pauline Wolf, Mrs. Allie Green
Durham, Mrs. Lessie Bryant, Mrs. Ray Criswell, Wyatt (Torner) Criswell, Mrs.
Elsie Faye Williams, Wallace O’Neal, Wayne Stone, Mrs. Edna Burrmmette, Julious
Broxton, A. D. Smith, Mrs. Lula Maddox, Mrs. Audrey Caddell and F. C. (Tidy)
Eaves.
A special song, “How Great Thou Art” was sung by Louis
Hicks of Waco. The memorial address was given by the Rev. Joe Walts Jr.,
pastor of the Haltom Road Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Announcements
were made, and the benediction was given by Thomas Criswell.
After lunch, a business meeting was held and officers
were elected for the coming year.
